Also, I have arranged several Addressbooks to one [Personal Address Book(default)]. clearly.^^
As that way,
I drag and drop each address on right upper part screen into [Personal Address Book] folder.
It is clear and fresh.^^

This extension is very helpful to categorize and manage contacts. With the latest development (see add-on homepage) it is compatible with the categories of the add-on MoreFunktionsForAddressBook.
CategoryManager2 is really worth a donation :-)

After I took my contacts from google to my owncloud I so missed the sync of grouping information to the thunderbird address book.
Finally found this add-on and does exactly what I need it to.

To every one who experienced an empty category list after updating to the latest version: this little bug can be killed by installing the addons cat.man and sogo in the right order: uninstall cat.man completely, update to the latest sogo, and reinstall cat.man.

John told me so, and he is already working on a better fix for this.

... on Mac one cannot create, edit, rename or delete categories. For creation, the input mask stays on top and nothing happens and even "cancel" does not work, so Thunderbird has to be force-killed to be usable again. I think it's some Javascript compatibility issue. On Windows, the plugin works fine and as it should. PLEASE do address the issue! I cannot use the plugin on my Mac as it is!

what is your environment? Mac OS, card dav server, thunderbird version, sogo connector version?

Thank you so much for this add-on, I can finally view my contact categories with comfort.
The only issue I have is the SoGo connector needs to me manually refreshed at each boot for the extension to display categories at all...
But it works anyway !
