It sounds like a good idea, unfortunately there's no explanation about or even a link to how to install the REST service.Edit: After I was pointed in the right direction and installed the service with some help of the developer himself, I am very pleased. The Thunderbird implemention is really easy and elegant!What would be nice is to insert existing tickets in the same formatting style.

The package comes with full installation instructions, which are even readable online: http://www.thregr.org/~wavexx/software/dl/README.html (and I point out that the link is included in the description of the addon itself).
