Removed the only tab I use ; Hangouts . I get that the author probably views this as a way to encourage revenue generation, but done like this with no warning it just generates ill-will.
With not even a pop-up telling you about future plans to do this, most people will have been searching around wondering why their Hangouts tab has disappeared (and isn't available from the Customize Menu options).
If there had been a warning, I might have even shelled out the five bucks for the pro version. But like this? Sorry, you just destroyed my trust. Thanks for the free extension, while it lasted, it was appreciated.
I'll probably go back to BitLBee + libpurple + Hexchat for Hangouts support, but this is obviously not to everyone's taste.
* (along with GMail ; not quite sure what the point of that tab is when you've probably worked hard to configure it on IMAP if you're using Thunderbird).

What, the most (only) useful tab has been removed? Hangouts.

The latest version removed the most useful buttons : Hangouts and Gmail (it was awesome to have a shortcut to edit gmail filters).
Now you must pay to have them.
I understand the need to change the business model but I think you should provide a link to the older version.

G-Hub Lite does not require an upgrade to work properly. If you add the toolbar buttons to the Thunderbird Toolbar as described in the installation instructions each and every button will open the associated service in a fully working state. The upgrade adds additional features and customization options.

You can type message to others on google hangout inside of thurnderbird, but you can't use the video chat option within thunderbird - It keeps asking you to install Google Hangout Plugin but you can't download the plugin inside of Mozilla Thunderbird. I tried download the plugin outside, but it still doesn't work. The sole reason I downloaded your add-on is because I need google hangout - but it only works 20%. Please fix issue.
