I use the Firefox offshoot, Waterfox. Waterfox uses a legacy edition of the NoiaScrollbars, but they still look fantastic!
The customization of the scrollbars is made easy buy an intuitive user interface configuration screen.
It's nice to be able to actually see the scrollbars by adjusting their colors to exactly what you want to see, or you can hide them completely if you so choose. NoiaScrollbars makes those very easy to do.
Just what I needed! Win 10 interface is terrible, and scrollbars have become very difficult to see. This add-on fixes that and then some. I do have a few suggestions for improving it, assuming it's still being developed:
- It took me a few minutes of trying to make changes with nothing happening before I realized I had to select a custom preset on the left. Perhaps a warning if trying to customize a non-custom preset would be helpful. - It also took some time to figure out what various settings mean/change, such as radius and thumb. Tooltips or short explanations would have been nice. - For some reason, the buttons lose their arrows when customizing with v2. I ended up just using v1, which accomplished the same look I was going for and ended up being much simpler, but not sure why it disallows keeping the arrows on the buttons if you want to make use of the extra customization provided by v2. - Most importantly, and it would easily be 5-stars if this were added, it would really benefit from being able to export/import the settings.
All in all, 4.5/5 for my needs. Thanks a ton for this!
Use custom CSS code for Firefox 57+ ( https://github.com/Aris-t2/CustomCSSforFx/issues/2 ) to keep classic ui features or switch to Waterfox browser ( https://www.waterfoxproject.org/ - a Firefox fork with support for legacy add-ons) to keep classic add-ons.
i've always had a hard time seeing the gray on gray scroll bar especially when the scroll bar is small on a long page, and loved this add-on to give full customization. what a shame to lose it with the release of quantum. hopefully in the future they will allow UI changes.
Using in Firefox 56.0.2 - makes the scrollbars look a hundred times better. Will consider switching to Waterfox 55 if future Firefox updates are not compatible with NewScrollbars.
It is not possible Firefox 57+ does not support ui changing add-ons. WebExtensions can not changes scrollbars, not even userChrome.css/userContent.css can.
Windows 10 made the scroll bar hard to see, light grey or white on white (SUCKS). A lot of people complained but no solution, even changing the Registry won't work. aka NoiaScrollbars makes the scroll bar reappear more visible in Firefox. Other Windows and Office remain sucks.
... since FF48.0.1 or so, it cannot change the scrollbar background color anymore (macOSX.8.5). In FF47 and older, this was no problem using the "v2" mode of NewScrollbars.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.2.5.1).
